CAN I IMPORT FURS INTO THE UNITED STATES?
YES, most furs can be imported to the United States. Some require
special permits such as CITES, but we provide all the legal paper work at no
cost to you.
WHY DO AMERICANS PREFER CANADIAN FURS?
Canadian furs are the finest in the world, as our winters are long and
cold fur gets really prime. With our short days and long nights, fur is
heavier than in warmer climates. There is also much more colour and
texture in the thicker furs.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY FURS?
You can send funds using VISA or MasterCard. You can also send payment
using a bank draft, money order or personal cheque (in US dollars). We
also accept and welcome payments via PayPal.
FYI - No matter where you buy fur, the market is based on the
U.S.dollar.
WHO IS BILL BUCKLEY
AND WHERE DOES HE LIVE?
Bill has been involved with
conservation all his life. Starting out as a young trapper and hunter,
Bill realized he wanted to make this part of his life. In the late '70s and
early '80s, most of his income was from harvesting fur.
With his passion for conservation, Bill and his family moved to the north shore of Lake Huron in Canada,
to pursue his dream. There they purchased a hunting and fishing lodge. Bill
used his trapping experience to guide bear, deer and moose hunters.
Bill has also had the opportunity to share his knowledge with many other
avid conservationists around Canada
and the United States.
He has given many speeches and seminars on fur harvesting and hunting. However,
he believes the most important thing is to "do your part to preserve our
natural heritage, for our kid's sake."
ARE FURS BECOMING POPULAR AGAIN?
Yes, the fur market has made a strong come back over the last
several years. More and more people are using and wearing real fur, realizing
that it is a natural and renewable resource. Old and inhumane hunting and trapping methods have been outlawed.
DO FURS SMELL?
No, once furs are processed or tanned, they no longer have a wild odour
to them.
HOW LONG WILL A FUR LAST?
Wild and ranched furs will last indefinitely, as long as you store them
properly, and out of direct sunlight.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO TAKE CARE OF MY FUR?
Fur coats should be cleaned once a year. Wall hangers, rugs, etc.
require a little maintenance, perhaps light dusting and occasional light
vacuuming. In general, furs are very hardy and require little work.
They are quite rugged and usually last for several generations.
ARE THE ANIMALS TRAPPED HUMANELY?
All of our furs are harvested in a safe humane matter and are subject to
government regulation and scrutiny. The conservation and trapping laws of
the area are among the most stringent and strictly enforced in North America.
Trappers and Hunters are constantly upgrading their skills to ensure all
animals are harvested using international humane trapping standards as many of
them are avid conservationists.
WHY ARE THE ANIMALS TRAPPED AT ALL?
In short, it's for conservation - to use without using up.
Wildlife, in most cases, do not have the ability to properly regulate
themselves. Human's constant interference with nature, through new
developments and the growing need for natural resources, leaves wildlife in
strong competition for food and shelter.
Without controlling the irregularity and surpluses, wild animals would not have enough natural food to go
around at all times. This can lead to a chain of negative events,
including mass starvation. The trapping industry promotes the responsible
and stable conservation of all wildlife and their habitat.
